Job Summary
To develop and implement strategies for increasing and diversifying fundraising income.
Responsibilities
The Head of Fundraising will:
- Develop and lead the delivery of the Fundraising strategy and annual operational plan to achieve the annual fundraising budget.
- Lead and manage the growth and diversification of fundraising across all income streams.
- In conjunction with Finance colleagues develop and monitor Revenue budgets to ensure income targets are delivered.
- Effectively lead and manage a highly motivated fundraising team
- Build the capacity of the Fundraising team through the recruitment and training of skilled volunteers who support fundraising activities.
- Build and maintain relationships with high profile and high net worth individuals as potential donors to the organisation.
- Oversee the submission of funding applications to charitable trusts and foundations.
- Lead on the creation of powerful and impactful funding proposals and presentations tailored to specific asks.
- Oversee the administration of Legacies ensuring internal processes are adhered to
- Actively network within the region to promote the Organisation and initiate fundraising relationships with potential donors.
- Report on the performance of Fundraising campaigns against budget to Executive Leadership Team, Board Sub Committees and Board of Trustees as required
- Encourage the promotion of the hospice’s values and brand through all events and activities.
- Ensure effective management of the health and safety of all staff and volunteers involved in fundraising activities
- Take responsibility for the maintenance of the Departmental Risk Register
- Be responsible for the implementation, maintenance and operation of the software used by the Fundraising team.
- Ensure fundraising policies are kept up to date and relevant to the work of the department and organisation and all activities adhere to current legislation and Code of Fundraising practice
- Arrange and oversee project meetings for potential high-level supporters and provide briefings for Organisational representatives involved in meetings or events.
- Work with colleagues, trustees and supporters to facilitate and secure personal introductions and meetings with prospects
- Devise an organisation-wide donor recognition policy and ensure funding agreements are fully documented
- Act in accordance with the Charity Governance Code, the General Data Protection Regulation and all Hospice policies and procedures
- Maintain high professional standards, keep up to date with all relevant issues and continue your personal and professional development.
- The post holder will work across both our Heald Green and Little Hulton sites. It will be necessary to be flexible with regard to working hours where requested, as some evening and weekend work will be required.
Skills, Qualifications and Experience
The Head of Fundraising will be able to:
- Hold a degree or equivalent qualification in addition a fundraising or marketing qualification and/or membership of a Fundraising organisation would be desirable.
- Have substantial experience at a senior level across all major philanthropic income streams, including individual, corporate, trusts and community.
- Have a track record of bringing innovative creative thinking and fresh ideas to an organisation.
- Possess knowledge of the fundraising environment and of a range techniques and disciplines which will support the cost effective generation of income.
- Possess convincing and persuasive written and oral skills with the ability to present and convey complex ideas and issues clearly and coherently.
- Demonstrable ability to evaluate the activities within the scope of the post and initiate, develop and deliver new initiatives that build on their successes
- Have experience of reporting to senior management including to Executive Leadership Team and Board of Trustees.
- Possess strong digital skills and awareness of new technologies and innovations.

Contract Permanent
Work Pattern 37.5 hours over 5 days per week.

Free Parking Free parking at our Heald Green and Little Hulton sites
Holiday 35 days, increasing to 37 days after 5 years’ service and 41 days after 10 years’ service (pro rata, inclusive of bank holidays). In addition, staff are able to buy up to 1 weeks’ holiday per year via salary sacrifice, pro rata.
Pension Contributory Stakeholder pension in which we match up to 7% of your gross salary. Or the ability to continue with a previously held NHS pension (subject to making contributions into the scheme in the previous 12 months).
Life Cover All staff in the Scottish Widows Pension scheme (with the exception of bank staff) are provided with life cover of three times their basic salary in the event of their death whilst employed by Moya Cole Hospice.

Safeguarding Any post holder within the organisation will be expected to undertake safeguarding training appropriate to their role and adhere to safeguarding policies and procedures. All staff must work in accordance with their statutory roles and responsibilities in relation to safeguarding in accordance with the Working Together to Safeguarding Children 2023, The Care Act 2014, and Prevent Duty 2015.
