Contract type
Permanent, part time (0.6 FTE).
SOLT currently has a non-contractual hybrid working policy in place which requires staff to work in the office 60% of the week.
Salary Band
Salary band C - £40,000 - £55,000 (FTE).
Annual leave
Annual leave for a full-time role is 25 days rising to 27 days after 5 years.

Society of London Theatre (SOLT) and sister organisation UK Theatre Association
(UK Theatre) are trade associations representing the interests of those engaged in the production and presentation of medium to large-scale theatre in the UK. SOLT represents approximately 200 London-based producers, theatre owners and managers. UK Theatre represents approximately 220 theatres, concert halls, dance companies, producers and arts centers throughout the UK (see a list of member organisations here) and over 1,000 individual professionals from the theatre and performing arts industry. The organisations are independent, but largely share common staff.

Role Description
Support the Director of Finance and Operations in the delivery of HR services for the internal workforce within SOLT & UK Theatre.
This is a stand alone role and will manage and continuously improve our core HR processes, systems, and service delivery. The role will ensure compliance, efficiency, and an outstanding employee experience.
Key Responsibilities and Accountabilities.
Your key responsibilities are:
- Manage day-to-day HR operations for the company, including employee lifecycle processes (onboarding, changes, offboarding)
- Ensure HR processes are in place which deliver HR policy in practice, drafting new processes where needed and recommending improvements
- Deliver training and guidance to colleagues on HR policies and procedures
- Ensure compliance with UK employment law, GDPR and internal policies
- Manage the HR system (currently Cezanne) to ensure accurate data is held, timely reporting from the system, system related processes are optimized
- Recommend appropriate HR metrics and produce regular reports of progress against KPIs which give valuable insights to the Executive and Heads
- Be a first point of contact for staff with HR related queries, escalating complex cases to Director of Finance and Operations
- Work with colleagues in Finance and Operations to ensure seamless cross-functional support, including for payroll and IT
- Recommend training partners to deliver the Learning and Development plan, and manage logistics and necessary arrangements for participating staff
- Manage the annual appraisal and mid-year review processes, collating review forms, supporting line managers, and summarising actions arising for consideration by the Executive and Heads
- Support recruiting managers with recommendations on routes to market, selection methods which promote equality of opportunity, and administration of applications and responses
- Recommend improvements to HR related practice to better serve our staff and deliver the purpose (eg appraisals, performance management, absence management)
- Work with CEO Office and other colleagues to implement and manage effective induction process for new starters
- Be a pro-active member of the EDI working group, bringing ideas and making recommendations as to how EDI can be effectively promoted across the work of SOLT and UKT
- Maintain up-to-date knowledge of employment legislation and best practice

As HR Operations Lead you will be supporting the organisation in various tasks. Here are some common technical skills and knowledge areas your role demands:
- Experience working in a similar HR operations role
- Detail oriented, confident in managing data and using data to derive insights
- Confident with technology including HR systems and Microsoft Office
- Experience in process improvement and realizing efficiencies
- Ability to build strong working relationships with colleagues and stakeholders
- Excellent organisational skills, with the ability to prioritise work to meet deadlines, and a concern for order and accuracy
- Experience of working in a small / medium sized organisation, working with confidence and credibility in a stand-alone role
- Up to date knowledge of EDI, employment legislation and its application including the Equality Act and the use of positive action
- CIPD Level 5 (or equivalent) preferred
