Location: Remote, UK based (with ability to travel to events as required - usually between 2-5 each year)

Job Description The Humane League UK is seeking a creative, proactive, and strategically-minded individual with the drive to end the abuse of animals raised for food.

As Social Media Coordinator, you will live and breathe all things social media, understanding its potential contribution to achieving our mission.

You'll lead all activities across our Facebook, X, Instagram, Threads, YouTube, and LinkedIn, as well as keeping an eye out for opportunities elsewhere on social media. With strong working knowledge across social channels, you’ll implement a digital strategy focused on reaching, engaging, and converting our audiences to take action for animals.

The successful candidate will be passionate about The Humane League’s mission of ending the abuse of animals raised for food. With an attention to detail and strong written and verbal communications skills in English, you’ll have a keen eye for persuasive and punchy copy and an ability to adapt your tone of voice.

You’ll be able to prioritise and manage multiple tasks efficiently in a fast-paced environment, ensuring that you meet deadlines and communicate internally.

You’ll have experience of digging into the data, using analytics to assess results, gain learnings, and action those learnings to improve channel performance. You understand what audiences want to see from different channels, and how to get cut through and reach attention on each one.

You are a whizz with editing tools and can create compelling, dynamic video and static content that hooks people in and keeps them watching.

You’ll be comfortable reacting to opportunities nimbly and being proactive in looking for stories to tell about our work, seeing every interaction as an opportunity. You’ll be willing to be the face of the organisation on social media, ensuring that you have a good working knowledge of our issues and campaigns in order to motivate support for them.

You will have a supporter-centric approach to communications, responding to comments and messages from a place of care and empathy.

While working with autonomy is an important part of your role, strong collaboration and communication skills are paramount to your success.

This role reports to the Digital Communications Manager.

Primary Responsibilities: ● Ownership of our social media channels; testing, creating, and posting content regularly

that is tailored to each channel and utilising each channel’s features to ensure our social channels make the biggest impact towards our goals..

● Planning and building social media campaigns that strategically integrate goals and consider metrics.

● Updating the communications calendar.

● Create inspiring concepts and develop these into compelling, on-brand, platform-specific content using tools like Canva and Adobe Express.

● Social media community management including moderating and responding to comments and messages to ensure people feel valued, engaged, and we are building strong relationships with supporters and potential supporters.

● Regularly monitoring social trends to create topical content.

● Using tools such as Google Analytics, Facebook insights, and Sprout Social to report on post and channel performance, monitoring and evaluating success against goals on a monthly basis.

● Contribute to or initiate the development and improvement of processes that improve delivery and collaboration.

● Keep up to date with new features and tech related to social media platforms, as well as other organisations’ activity, to ensure the most engaging and effective content.

● Encourage and assist staff members in producing social media content, supporting them with creative and technical guidance and giving feedback.

● Contribute to other communications activities such as website and PR content, as necessary.

● Attend events, protests and actions as necessary, developing on-the-ground content plans that effectively showcase our actions and further our goals.

● Attend in-person workshops several times a year.

Essential Skills and Experience:

● Strong working knowledge across multiple key social media platforms, particularly Instagram and Facebook – this could be through professional experience or demonstrable extensive personal use.

● Experience in planning, creating, and scheduling social media content ahead of time, as well as reactive content.

● An understanding of how different audiences engage with content across various platforms, and what they want to see from each.

● Confident using the features and tools of each channel to optimise reach and engagement.

● Experience using data and analytics to assess social media performance, extract insights, and apply learnings to improve results.

● Proficiency with editing tools to create both video and static graphic content.

Desirable Skills and Experience

● Proficient in tools such as Google Analytics, Facebook Insights, and Sprout Social (or similar).

● Experience in community management, including responding to comments and messages in a timely, appropriate, and engaging way.

● Knowledge of factory farming/broiler issues

Role Title Trusts and Foundations Fundraising Manager Department Engagement

Resource Management Responsible for the strategy, operational plan and delivery of income from charitable trusts and foundations. Specifically:

To develop and grow charitable income from trusts, foundations and other charitable grant-making organisations, in support of BTO strategic objectives and priorities, for specific appeals, projects and general funding – currently circa £300-350k pa.

Purpose of the role A highly skilled role, key to the successful delivery of the Fundraising Strategy. The post-holder should demonstrate strategic thinking and familiarity with operational planning at managerial level. They should have a sound knowledge of fundraising principles and practice, gained through a minimum of three years’ experience in the charitable or other relevant sector. The post demands excellent relationship building and negotiation at a high level within organisations, and the drive and resourcefulness to seek out and develop funding opportunities. The successful candidate will have the freedom to act within the Fundraising Strategy, with approval from the Head of Fundraising, and will be required to report on progress and results. A high level of initiative and a creative approach to growing charitable income are essential.

What you will deliver

● To develop and manage the strategic approach and operational plan for fundraising from

trusts, foundations and other grant-making bodies.

● To manage budgets and achieve targets agreed with the Head of Fundraising.

● Liaise with members of other departments at all levels to gain information for project

reports, proposals and applications within the BTO’s strategic objectives and priorities and

ensure that project timetables and costings are achievable and accurate.

● To manage and undertake systematic research of potential trust and foundation funding

sources and new funding initiatives as they emerge, taking the lead in applications to new

trusts, foundations and other charitable grant-making organisations.

● To develop and manage a rolling programme of funding applications throughout the year in

order to maintain and grow charitable income targets.

● To submit applications to major trusts and foundations able to award grants of £20k+ and

where possible to secure multi-year funding.

● To develop and manage a network of key contacts, communicating and negotiating at all

levels within grant-making organisations, foundations and trusts.

● To ensure the fulfilment of funding obligations including submission of reports, financial

claims, PR and publicity requirements, and other requirements set by the funding body on

agreement of funding support.

● To ensure compliance with legal requirements, fundraising regulations and principles and

with GDPR in the course of communications and record-keeping.

Other Fundraising

● To lead on individual lottery bids, with approval from the Head of Fundraising.

● To ensure good records, files and information on all aspects of the work to ensure that

activities and progress can be effectively monitored to improve fundraising success.

Publicity

● To manage press matters and BTO promotion of grants from trusts, foundations and other

grant-making organisations.

● To manage the development of fundraising materials for trusts, foundations and other

grant-making bodies.

● To represent the BTO at events & conferences run external groups such as funding

workshops and networks, or hosted by the BTO, e.g. trustee visits to the BTO, participation

in online presentations and Q &As.

Person Specification Essential

● A minimum of three years’ experience delivering income growth from the charitable and

CSR sector, or equivalent experience gained in another sector, or with three years’

experience in a charitable fundraising role.

● A proven ability to establish, develop and manage fundraising relationships.

● Excellent organisational skills, with an ability to meet deadlines and budget targets.

● Personal drive, enthusiasm and creativity.

● Ability to both manage effectively and work as part of a team.

● Ability to build effective working relationships within the Communications Team, across all

departments within the BTO and with key contacts in external organisations.

● A good command of written English, for applications, reports, articles and letters, and

excellent communication skills.

Desirable

● Educated to degree level and/or a recognised fundraising or marketing qualification. ● An interest in birds/wildlife and alignment with BTO's vision of a better place for birds and

people

● Web and social media creative skills (e.g. design/copywriting, fundraising materials, leaflets,

posters).
