Philanthropy Manager

Teach First is a charity that believes education is the

most powerful tool to help a child fulfil their poten-

tial. We find and train teachers to work in the schools

that need them most, we equip school leaders with

evidence-led training, we support local teacher

training providers, and we plug education leaders

into supportive professional networks.

The role

The rundown: You will be responsible for philanthropy

to deliver ambitious annual income targets through

prospecting, cultivating and converting new business

opportunities. You will have a deep understanding of

High-Net-Worth Individuals and Philanthropy (HNWI),

specifically new business development, implementation

and conversion and have a passion for the Teach First

mission. You will build and develop the high-value

philanthropy pipeline and philanthropic partners and

bring expertise in prospecting, cultivating those pro-

spects whilst converting them into strategic partners.

The detail: day-to-day work

• Responsible for building and managing the philanthro- py pipeline. Proactively research, identify and cultivate new opportunities taking them through the sales cycle.

• Monitor and track progress through Salesforce, reporting to the Head of Trust & Foundations & Philanthropy on a regular basis through KPI reporting and financial reporting.

• Create strong propositions for new prospects using our case for supports.

• Establish sustainable income for Teach First through securing strategic, multi-year partnerships and/or those with the potential to grow over the long-term.

• Work with fundraising operations, finance and legal to ensure donation levels and contracts agreed are in the best interests of the Charity.

• Develop your own networks and engage with Teach First senior volunteers to harness their connections and expertise to identify and progress leads through to success. Support any new business cultivation events.

You’ll take ownership for:

Pipeline Development and Management - Build and maintain a dynamic pipeline of high-net-worth individuals and philanthropic funders. Support Head of to map contacts and relationships with trustees, executive leadership, and development board members. Cultiva- tion of your prospects from meetings, proposals, negotiation and contracts.

Proposition Development and Analysis - Collaborate with programme teams to identify fundable opportunities and create compelling, innovative propositions. Provide financial analysis on the pipeline to inform forecasting and planning.

Account Management and Stewardship - Secure a personal income target of approx. £350K and establish a strong pipeline. Create and implement bespoke steward- ship plans for each donor, managing relationships with existing philanthropic partners, ensuring delivery of stewardship plans and engagement opportunities.

Renewal and Continuation Funding - Write high- quality reports demonstrating impact and outcomes. Develop proposals for renewal or continuation funding, tailored to donor interests and giving history.

Contracting, Compliance and Reporting - Manage the donation agreement or contract process, ensuring legal and ethical compliance. Define and track customer success criteria to evaluate donor satisfaction and engagement. Produce internal reports on performance metrics, pipeline progress, and stewardship outcomes.

About you

• 3+ years’ experience in philanthropic and high value fundraising, with a track record of securing high- value, multi-year partnerships and delivering year-on- year income growth. Deep understanding of philan- thropic trends; able to align fundraising strategy with organisational priorities.

• Proven success in securing six figure partnerships and a track record of exceeding income targets through new business and renewals.

• Outstanding written and verbal communicator, with experience crafting persuasive proposals and delivering high-impact presentations. Ability to build and maintain relationships with high-value donors and senior stakeholders, including trustees and board members.

• Skilled in identifying and qualifying new prospects through research and network mapping. Skilled in research, data analysis, and income forecasting; confident interpreting pipeline data and presenting insights.

• Expertise in developing compelling, mutually benefi- cial partnership propositions. Proficient in CRM systems such as Salesforce for relationship and pipeline management.

• Highly organised with the ability to manage multiple donor journeys, deadlines, and reporting require- ments. Excellent project management and coordina- tion across multiple stakeholders.

• Prior engagement with youth, education or children’s charities, whether professionally or as a volunteer.

• Understanding of legal and ethical considerations in philanthropy, including donation agreements and data protection.

• Brings fresh thinking to proposition development and donor engagement strategies.

• You should have a commitment to and knowledge of advancing diversity and inclusion.
