Business Support Officer
- Duration: Temporary for 4 months
- Pay: £16.48 - £19.24 per hour (equivalent to £30,000 - £35,000 FTE)
- Hours: Full-time (37.5 hours per week), with 4 days considered
- Location: Hybrid, with 3 days per week in the London office (W1)
- Start: ASAP
Charity People is delighted to be partnering with a long-established Armed Forces charity to recruit for a temporary Business Support Officer.
This is an excellent opportunity for an experienced administrator to join a small, friendly team of five during a period of transition.
Working closely with the Charity Director, you will provide high-quality administrative and operational support across the organisation. The role requires someone who is highly organised, confident supporting senior stakeholders, and comfortable coordinating Board and Trustee meetings.
Alongside supporting the day-to-day running of the charity, you'll also assist with a practical project involving the organisation and cataloguing of the charity's archive and artwork collection.

The charity has been supporting serving and veteran members of the UK Armed Forces and their families for over a century, helping people access vital healthcare and wellbeing support. Following significant organisational change, the charity is focused on grant-making and stewarding its assets to continue making a meaningful difference to beneficiaries.
About the Role
You will:
- Provide day-to-day administrative support across the charity
- Coordinate Board and Trustee meetings from start to finish
- Prepare and distribute meeting papers and board packs
- Take accurate minutes and maintain action logs
- Arrange meeting rooms, catering and meeting logistics
- Assist with set up for the in-person Board and Committee meetings
- Manage records, filing systems and organisational documentation
- Support diary management and meeting coordination for senior stakeholders
- Assist with office administration and operational support
- Help organise and catalogue archive and artwork collections
- Provide flexible support to a small team of five staff members
About You
We're looking for someone who:
- Has previous experience in a senior administrative, executive support or coordinator role
- Has supported senior leaders, Boards, Committees or Trustees
- Has experience preparing meeting papers and board packs
- Is confident taking accurate minutes and following up on actions
- Has excellent organisational skills and strong attention to detail
- Is comfortable managing multiple priorities simultaneously
- Has a proactive and flexible approach
- Enjoys working within a small team where everyone contributes
- Is happy combining executive support responsibilities with general administration
