Are you an experienced Registered Service Manager looking for an opportunity where you can have a real impact on the lives of the people you support?
Charity People is delighted to be partnering with The Meath Epilepsy Charity to recruit a Registered Service Manager to lead a specialist residential service for adults with a disability in Surrey.
This is a brilliant opportunity for an experienced and compassionate manager who combines strong knowledge of health and social care with a genuine commitment to delivering safe, high-quality, person-centred services.
The charity provides specialist residential care and day services, offering accommodation, tailored support, skills development and a wide variety of leisure and sporting activities. At the heart of its work is a commitment to enabling the people it supports to live fulfilled, independent and socially inclusive lives.
The role
As Registered Service Manager, you will provide day-to-day leadership for the residential service, ensuring the highest standards of care, safeguarding and regulatory compliance.
You will lead and support a team including Deputy Managers, Senior Support Workers, Support Workers and day, night, bank and agency staff, creating a positive culture where colleagues feel supported, developed and empowered to deliver excellent care.
You will also play an important role in ensuring the service remains fully compliant with CQC requirements, while keeping the people supported by the charity at the centre of decision-making and service delivery.
Key responsibilities will include:
- Leading and developing the team, providing supportive day-to-day management, supervision, appraisals, inductions and training.
- Ensuring high standards of care and compliance, with responsibility for maintaining CQC standards and ensuring policies, procedures and regulatory requirements are consistently followed.
- Overseeing the smooth running of the service, including rota planning, staffing levels, record keeping and service documentation.
- Championing person-centred support, ensuring residents are empowered to make choices, develop their independence and achieve their individual goals.
- Building positive relationships with residents, families, colleagues, trustees and external health and social care professionals.
- Overseeing medication management, ensuring safe administration and accurate record keeping.
- Supporting a safe and well-managed service, taking appropriate responsibility and providing leadership when emergencies or unexpected situations arise.
About you
We are looking for an experienced Registered Service Manager who is confident leading both people and practice within a residential care environment.
You will be someone who can balance the operational and regulatory responsibilities of the role with a warm, visible and person-centred approach to leadership.
To be considered for the role, you will need:
- A relevant health and social care qualification at QCF Level 5 or above.
- At least one year’s experience as a Registered Service Manager within a residential services organisation.
- Experience of working with young adults 18+ and wide range of ages.
- A good understanding of CQC Fundamental Standards and KLOEs.
- Experience of managing, supporting and developing staff teams.
- Knowledge and practical experience of MCA and DoLS.
- Excellent written and verbal communication skills, with the confidence to build relationships with residents, families, professionals and other stakeholders.
- Good IT skills, including experience using Microsoft programmes and calendars.
- A full clean driving licence.
It would also be advantageous to have experience of preparing for and supporting a service through a CQC inspection, alongside two or more years’ management experience within a health or social care setting.
Location and working arrangements
Due to the nature of the service and the 24/7 face-to-face care provided to residents, this is an on-site role based in Surrey.
The post is full time, Monday to Friday, with a requirement to work one weekend per month as part of a rota.
You will also need to be able to drive as part of the role.
