About the role
This is a key role within the People Team, working closely with the Head of People and wider People & OD function to strengthen HR operations across the organisation.  

You will act as a trusted advisor to leadership while championing a positive employee experience, ensuring the organisation attracts, retains and develops talented staff.

This is a varied role, combining operational HR delivery with opportunities to contribute to organisational development and continuous improvement.

Key responsibilities

• Oversee end-to-end recruitment, onboarding and induction processes
• Manage employee relations, including disciplinary and grievance processes
• Support performance management, appraisal cycles and probation reviews
• Provide advice and coaching to managers on HR matters and best practice
• Lead on HR data, reporting and analytics to inform decision-making
• Support organisational change processes, including restructures and TUPE

About the role

This is a core role within the organisation’s influencing strategy, and your primary responsibilities will include:

External Affairs & Influencing:

• Develop and deliver influencing plans to promote adoption of effective mental health care initiatives being funded by the charity
• Develop productive relationships with key stakeholders (journalists, NHS trust leaders, ICBs, ICSs, VCSE orgs) to gather intelligence and shape strategy to inform the charity’s positioning
• Lead the charity’s thought leadership development providing strategic advice to senior leadership on political, NHS and mental health policy developments
• Strengthen the charity’s role in mental health policy and advocacy coalitions, by contributing to collaborative advocacy, media and communications outputs
• Lead the charity’s response to government mental health care consultations and calls for evidence
• Monitor funder sector trends and conversations, and actively seek out opportunities for the charity to strategically engage and influence by sharing learning from its grant making practice

Media management

• Develop and implement integrated external affairs campaigns that support the charity’s influencing work
• Create persuasive materials, including press releases, op-eds, spokespeople briefings, comment pieces, and digital content and pitch to relevant outlets
• Maintain and grow relationships with journalists, broadcasters and sector media to secure relevant high-quality coverage of the charity’s activities, grant holders and their projects
• Act as first point of contact for media enquiries, managing proactive and reactive press activity

This role is expected to grow and develop and the postholder will be fully supported from across the organisation as the position evolves, within an organisation that offers a friendly, values led culture.

We would love to hear from individuals with the following skills and experience:

• Demonstrable track record of developing and implementing successful influencing strategies in the mental health sector
• Experience of stakeholder management within mental health care, including NHS Trust leaders, Integrated Care Boards, commissioners and senior clinicians, and with academics and researchers
• Strong experience in media relations, including briefing senior spokespeople, drafting press releases, media handling, and securing media coverage with a good understanding of the needs and expectations of different outlets and publications
• Keen understanding of the NHS, mental health policy landscape, and the related environment, key stakeholders and sector drivers
• Understanding of the key components and considerations of successful external affairs media and influencing
• Understanding of the sensitivities around mental illness, including working in an empathetic manner with people with lived experience
• Understanding of Diversity, Equity and Inclusion principles and a commitment to apply them in your work and as an organisation
• Influencing skills including confidence and credibility in working with stakeholders,
• Communication skills and the ability to produce clear and effective communications and the ability to confidently and accurately represent the organisation externally

You’ll be a core member of a small, proactive and talented team and will have primarily responsibility for overseeing all social media output for the organisation, as well as for website content creation and management. Core responsibilities within the role will include:

• Create and publish regular, engaging social media content relating to all elements of Allkind’s work, including across Facebook, Instagram, LinkedIn, TikTok and YouTube

• Build strong relationships with staff and volunteers to identify stories, updates and achievements that can be developed into engaging website content

You’ll work within a small, dedicated and talented team and will play a central role in shaping how Cancer Support UK tells its story; leading the development of high-quality, impact led content that brings lived experience together to build support loyalty and increase public engagement and understanding.

The role has real scope for impact and innovation and will work closely with colleagues from across the charity, including the CEO, to build on strong foundations. Core responsibilities within the role will include:

• Lead all digital communications, including website, social media and online campaigns
• Manage and create content for the website, overseeing written, visual and video
• Develop and deliver a planned schedule of communications activity across all channels
• Develop and maintain a compelling library of supporter stories (written, film and imagery), ensuring appropriate permissions and coverage across key research areas
• Work with colleagues to source, craft and share stories that demonstrate impact and inspire support
• Collaborate with colleagues to translate unique insight from beneficiaries into engaging stories that demonstrate the positive impact of the services delivered by Cancer Support UK
• Work closely with the fundraising team to optimise digital communications
• Engage with and respond to the organisation’s online community in a timely, supportive and professional manner
• Ensure consistent use of brand, tone and values in line with brand guidelines
• Track and analyse digital performance using tools such as Google Analytics and income reports, using insight to continuously improve effectiveness
• Report on how communications activity drives engagement, enquiries, donations and pledges
• Manage relationships with third-party agencies where required, including briefing, objectives and evaluation
• Coordinate corporate communications such as the annual review and impact report

We would love to see applications from candidates with the following skills and experience: 

• Previous experience within a communications role within a charity or similar organisation
• Demonstrable experience of leading on storytelling, narrative development or content creation that has driven engagement or fundraising outcomes, with the ability to identify the emotional heart of a story and shape it appropriately for different audiences and channels
• Experience planning and delivering social media content using a structured schedule
• Experience developing e-communications to build loyalty and engagement
• Experience managing website content, ideally WordPress or similar
• Understanding of online community management and supporter engagement
• Confidence using analytics tools to measure and report on digital performance
• Excellent interpersonal skills and ability to build positive relationships with diverse audiences
• Emotional intelligence and sensitivity when engaging with people affected by medical conditions
• Understanding of how to use video and film across digital channels
• High level of attention to detail and accuracy
• Familiarity with CMS platforms, social media channels (e.g. Instagram, Facebook) and e-marketing tools (e.g. Mailchimp, DotDigital)

About the Organisation

The Elfrida Society is a user-led charity working alongside people with learning disabilities and/or neurodivergent needs (LDND). They are deeply committed to creating a more inclusive society where people with LDND can access the services, support and opportunities they need.

They centre lived experience, co-production and inclusion in everything they do, and strongly encourage applications from people with lived experience of disability and neurodivergence or people who have navigated health systems on behalf of relatives.

About the Role

They are looking for a Healthcare & Community Liaison to support their Healthcare Project. You will build relationships with healthcare providers, community organisations and underrepresented groups to raise awareness of the work they do and increase access to advocacy. You will also support the promotion of their workshops and podcast.

This is also a development opportunity: you will gain hands-on experience in one-to-one advocacy, supported by an experienced and collaborative team.

Key Responsibilities

• Build relationships with hospitals, GPs, community organisations and local partners
• Engage with diverse communities, including ethnic minority groups and young people transitioning into adult services
• Promote Elfrida’s advocacy services, workshops and podcast
• Support referrals into one-to-one advocacy
• Develop skills and experience in advocacy work with people with LDND
• Provide advocacy support (with guidance) where appropriate
• Work collaboratively with colleagues to develop and improve services
• Maintain accurate records in line with GDPR

The Role:

Reporting to the Director of Marketing and Engagement, you will lead, develop and inspire a dedicated fundraising team, creating a high-performance culture that delivers ambitious income targets across a diverse portfolio.

This is a strategic and hands-on leadership role. You will be responsible for developing and delivering the hospice's fundraising strategy, identifying new opportunities for growth, and personally supporting key relationships and fundraising initiatives. You will work closely with senior colleagues, trustees and external stakeholders, providing regular updates and reports to the Board on fundraising performance, opportunities and risks.

About You:

We are seeking a confident and experienced fundraising professional who combines strategic thinking with a practical, hands-on approach. You will be an inspirational leader with a proven ability to deliver income growth, develop high-performing teams and build strong relationships with supporters, partners and senior stakeholders.

You will be comfortable operating both strategically and operationally, with the credibility and communication skills to influence at Board level and represent the hospice externally.

Your Experience

• Significant senior fundraising experience across multiple income streams, with a strong track record of delivering sustainable income growth
• Proven ability to lead, motivate, and develop high-performing fundraising teams, building a positive and ambitious culture
• Demonstrable success in designing and delivering fundraising strategies that achieve measurable results and long-term financial sustainability
• Strong commercial and financial acumen, including budgeting, income forecasting, performance management, and driving return on investment across fundraising activity
• Ability to build and maintain strong stakeholder relationships, alongside developing compelling cases for support, funding applications, and donor propositions that inspire giving and generate income
• Experience of planning and delivering successful fundraising events, with responsibility for volunteer management and awareness of relevant health and safety requirements
