Job Description
Community Fundraising Officer - Dystonia UK
Salary: £28,000 - £34,000 per annum
Location: Hybrid, with 1-2 days per week in the London office
Contract: Full-time
Join a small charity where your ideas can shape the future.
Charity People is delighted to be partnering with Dystonia UK to recruit a new Community Fundraising Officer to join their team.
For more than 40 years, Dystonia UK has been supporting people living with dystonia and campaigning to improve awareness and understanding of the condition. As the charity continues to grow, they're looking for an energetic and ambitious fundraiser to help take their community fundraising programme to the next level.
This is an exciting opportunity for someone who already has some fundraising experience and is ready for the next step. Perhaps you're in your first fundraising role and looking for greater ownership, more responsibility and the chance to develop your skills across multiple income streams. If so, this could be a fantastic new role.
Community Fundraising Officer
You'll join a close-knit and highly collaborative fundraising team, working across a broad portfolio of community fundraising activity.
This is an incredible role where no two days look the same. One day you might be supporting London Marathon participants to maximise their fundraising, planning cheer points and supporter stewardship journeys. The next may be helping to develop communications, creating fundraising resources, supporting challenge events, or working with community supporters who are organising fundraising activities in their local area.
Community fundraising is a key area of growth for the charity, and you'll play an important part in helping to build and develop this programme. You'll have the opportunity to test new ideas, identify opportunities and contribute directly to future fundraising plans.
The charity currently supports a busy calendar of challenge events and community activity, including a growing portfolio of runners, fundraisers and supporters who need excellent stewardship and encouragement to succeed.
For someone who enjoys variety, creativity and relationship-building, this role offers plenty of scope to make your mark.
About You
We're looking for someone with energy, initiative and a genuine enthusiasm for fundraising.
You may already have some experience in community fundraising, individual giving, events or supporter engagement, and be ready to take on a broader role with more autonomy. Equally, you might have developed transferable skills elsewhere within the charity sector and be looking for the opportunity to grow.
You'll likely bring:
- Some experience of fundraising, supporter engagement or relationship management
- Excellent communication skills and confidence building relationships with a wide range of people
- Strong organisational skills and the ability to manage multiple projects at once
- A proactive, solutions-focused approach
- Creativity and a willingness to bring forward new ideas
- The confidence to work independently while being part of a supportive team
Most importantly, you'll be someone who enjoys working in a small, close knit organisation, likes to take ownership and wants to develop your fundraising career.
Why Join Dystonia UK?
This is the kind of role where you'll gain exposure to far more than community fundraising alone. Working within a small team means you'll have the opportunity to build experience across fundraising, communications, supporter stewardship and income generation. You'll have the freedom to contribute ideas, shape projects and see the direct impact of your work.
The team is ambitious, supportive and highly flexible, with core hours of 10am-4pm and a hybrid working approach. The fundraising team typically comes together in the office on Tuesdays and Thursdays, creating opportunities for collaboration while maintaining flexibility around home working.
Perhaps most excitingly, the organisation is looking for someone who wants to grow with them.
If you're looking for a role where you'll be trusted, supported and given room to grow, we'd love to hear from you.
